. Our Leaders
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is a major political party in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1978 by Ziaur Rahman, who served as its leader until his assassination in 1981. His widow, Khaleda Zia, then took over the leadership and served as party chairperson until her imprisonment in 2018. Currently, their son, Tarique Rahman, acts as the party's acting chairperson from London. The BNP aims to establish a strong and inclusive democracy, promote national economic liberation, and foster self-reliance. The party has won several national elections and played a significant role in shaping Bangladesh's political landscape.
